Charlotte's historic arts and entertainment district

Welcome to NoDa

Charlotte's historic arts and entertainment district

One mile northeast of uptown, branching from 36th and North Davidson Streets intersection, is this young artsy neighborhood with hipster vibes and Charlotte's most vibrant arts and entertainment scene, NoDa.

Once a textile hub with the largest concentration of textile mills in the U.S., NoDa has now blossomed, attracting a new crop of trendy bars, eclectic restaurants, craft breweries, coffee shops, and entertainment venues. It is still growing, brimming with things to do and explore, from gallery crawls to outdoor concerts.

People are attracted to this young, exciting city by its vibrant culture, booming commerce, and mild subtropical climate. And because it sits a few minutes from one of the largest metropolitan regions in the Southeast, Charlotte, it's the ideal location: away from the big city but just within reach.

What to Love

  • Walkable neighborhood with easy access to uptown and other neighborhoods
  • Rich artistic history and a hipster vibe
  • A tight-knit, family-friendly community
  • Beautiful city, decorated by colorful murals and public art

Local Lifestyle

NoDa is home to all walks of life, but its artistic and hipster vibes attract an array of talented artists and musicians. Public art and colorful murals lining the streets, galleries filled with local artwork, and live planned or impromptu performances boost the neighborhood's appeal and keep NoDa residents occupied all year round.

This young neighborhood is an excellent place to live, work, and play with its tight community, proximity to uptown and other neighborhoods, and several family-friendly amenities. The residents of NoDa have carried on with the tight-knit traditions of the original mill villagers, so they constantly interact with their neighbors.

NoDa is walkable, so residents don't have to rely on any means of transport to explore it. The Lynx rail connects the residents to Uptown, South End, and other popular areas in Charlotte.

The real estate in NoDa is growing, featuring a variety of styles, from modern-contemporary to traditional cozy ranch-style revamps. Single-family homes, spacious townhomes, low-rise condos, and new constructions dot the neighborhood.

Dining, Entertainment, and Shopping

NoDa is known as Charlotte's historic arts and entertainment district, so there is no shortage of fun dining, entertainment, and shopping options.

Start at Cabo Fish Taco, a Baja Sea Grill that offers a fusion of authentic Baja Mexican cuisine and fresh seafood. Try the Mahi Mahi Tacos recommended by Guy Fieri! I hope you saved room for delicious Thai delicacies: Deejai Noodle Bar offers a delightful choice of authentic, traditional Thai street food.

For shopping, drop by OldNews Vintage for some vintage outfits or Pura Viva Worldly Art for some unique handmade gifts, garments, and art. Other shopping destinations include Kofu Kaikan and The Rat's Nest.

To catch live music, the Neighborhood Theater and The Evening Muse have shows and concerts for you. Head out to NoDa 101 for some karaoke.

Things to Do

As Charlotte's center of art, there's always something fun and exciting to do. The first thing to do after moving to NoDa is to walk around the neighborhood to catch beautiful looks of NoDa's beautiful murals and artworks coloring the scene. Start with the iconic "Bloom" and work your way through the neighborhood.

Discovery Place Science is a museum you can visit alone or as a family to learn more about the growing neighborhood. Saturday Walks down N Davidson Street will take you to some of the most notable NoDa dining spots, such as Haberdish and Le's Sandwiches and Café, a Vietnamese banh mi sandwich shop, bars, and street vendors.

If you're down for a midday pick-me-up, the array of breweries in NoDa are worth a visit. The Noda Brewing Company offers various brews, from funky sours to Work Beer Cup award-winning IPAs. Stop by Divine Barrel for a classic craft brew.

There is no shortage of planned and impromptu performances and live shows. The Charlotte Pride Festival, Charlotte's largest festival, held in August for two days, is a must-attend. Foodies must attend the Taste the World festival for the ultimate cultural and culinary experience and entertainment.

You can do several other things within ten minutes of NoDa, such as discover the Billy Graham Library, engage with art at Mint Museum Randolph, and celebrate racing history at the NASCAR hall of fame.
